Q: Can I install Elkay units outdoors?
A: Select Elkay units are rated for outdoor applications. Elkay also offers a variety of retrofit options to upgrade existing outdoor water fountains to bottle filling stations. Reach out to a Zurn Elkay representative to find the best solution for your school’s needs.
Q: What do Elkay filters filter out?
A: Elkay WaterSentry® filters are tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 to reduce lead, microplastics, cysts, Class 1 particulate, and chlorine taste and odor. The Elkay WaterSentry PFOA/PFOS filter (71300C) is tested and certified to reduce PFAS (PFOA/PFOS), lead, microplastics, cysts, Class 1 particulate, and chlorine taste and odor.
Q: How often should I replace my filter?
A: It depends on your filter:
- Our 51300C filter is rated for 3,000 gallons, which is equal to approximately 19,200 20-oz. bottles
- Our 51600C filter is rated for 6,000 gallons, which is equal to approximately 38,400 20-oz. bottles
- Our 71300C filter is rated for 2,250 gallons, which is equal to approximately 1,400 20-oz. bottles
- Actual filter life depends on usage. We recommend changing your filter at least once a year
Q: I already have bottle filling stations — what is the process for replacing or retrofitting them?

We’ll take care of installation and follow up to make sure you’re satisfied with your new products. Our solutions are designed to replace almost any brand of fountain or bottle filling stations, and we offer stainless steel back panels to hide wall imperfections so that you don’t have to worry about patching and painting.
