A student-led discovery about water quality led St. Charles Parish School to partner with Elkay, upgrading all unfiltered stations to improve taste, hydration and satisfaction school-wide.
Saint Charles Parish is a long-established but growing elementary school in suburban Milwaukee.
Over the past four years, the school's student population has grown by almost 50 percent. There was an accelerating urgency for clean, filtered water to accommodate the expanting student body. Over the years, the school had replaced traditional water fountains with water bottle fillers, and then time came to replace them again. Whether they were older units or newer units, Principal Dan Garvey believed all the stations in the school were filtered, but students began pointing out a notable difference in taste. The oder stations dispensed water that "tasted like cholorine", while the newer Elkay models that were slowly being introduced delivered fresh, clean-tasting water.
After realizing not all units were filtered, Principal Garvey partnered with Elkay to upgrade every non-filtered station throughout the school. Saint Charles chose Elkay filtered bottle filling stations for their trusted performance, sleek design, and easy maintenance. The process was straightforward, and the maintenance team appreciated how simple it was to replace filters.
I definitely had a misconception about water bottle fillers. My understanding was that they were all filtered. But listening to the kids, I quickly realized that they were not.
