What makes 300 Series Stainless Steel the best base material choice?

300 Series stainless steel incorporates molybdenum, which significantly increases corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in many industrial applications involving processing chemicals, as well as high-saline environments such as coastal regions and outdoor areas where deicing salts are common.

How do freeze resistant models work?

Freeze-resistant units minimize the time incoming water spends in freezing temperatures. For pedestal installations, this is accomplished by installing the control valves underground below the frost line. Freeze-resistant fountains and bottle fillers drain the water from tubing above the frost line when the units are not in use. This action minimizes the chance of the water supply tubing freezing.

What is the difference between traditional freeze valve systems and our sealed freeze valve systems?

A traditional freeze valve system relies on the gravitational flow of water down through the supply tubes. It drains the water into a drainage field. If soil conditions do not allow for proper drainage, the ground water can back up into the valve area and prevent the valve drain system from working properly.

Elkay's sealed freeze valve system isolates the water removed from the upper plumbing lines. During operation, the sealed freeze valve pulls water down from above the frost line and stores it in an isolated chamber until the next drink cycle is started. At the start of the next cycle, an internal piston forces the stored water out into a dedicated drainage circuit above ground level. By totally isolating water supply circuits and valve systems, the sealed freeze valve system continues to function properly even if the water table level rises above the valve.

Is there a hands-free activation option for outdoor tubular bottle filling stations?

Yes. Elkay’s outdoor foot pedal accessory provides the option for hands-free bottle filling activation on select outdoor bottle filling stations. It is easy to install and does not deactivate the traditional push button.

Does the foot pedal work with freeze-resistant, free-standing bottle filling station models? 

No. Freeze-resistant drinking fountain models require a specific push button and valve that are not yet compatible with this foot pedal.

Is the foot pedal weather and water resistant?

The foot pedal attachment is made from Type 316 stainless steel and has a powder-coated exterior to withstand the elements, like our outdoor bottle filling stations.

Does this foot pedal activate or deactivate additional dispense points on the bottle filling station?

The foot pedal adds a hands-free activation option for the bottle filler only. All push buttons will continue to function as normal.

Can this foot pedal be installed on a new bottle filling station at the factory? 

No. The foot pedal accessory must be ordered separately as an add on and connected upon bottle filling station installation or attached to an existing compatible model.

Can I install this foot pedal on my existing fountain that is already installed?

Yes. This is a hands-free activation optional accessory that can be retrofitted to new and existing, outdoor, free-standing, tubular bottle filling station models. See compatibility guide for details. 

If I have a hose bib already connected to my free-standing bottle filling station, can I also connect the foot pedal?

Yes. The foot pedal will work in conjunction with your hose bib. We suggest installing the hose bib on the top panel and foot pedal on the bottom panel on models that have two panels.
