Yorktowne Cabinetry expands current operations
Elkay Manufacturing Company, the parent company of
semi-custom cabinetry maker Yorktowne Cabinetry,
announces multi-million-dollar investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing facility
Red Lion, PA (February, 2005) In an
continuing effort to strengthen its presence in the semi-custom cabinet
industry, Elkay Manufacturing Company and its cabinetry group
today announced the $ 19 million investment in the construction of a 256,000 sq.
ft state-of-the-art wood finishing and cabinetry assembly plant in
Danville, VA. This bold strategic move will provide Yorktowne
Cabinetry with added capacity to improve current service in the
Southeast market and allow for increased market presence in the Northeast. As a
result, more customers will obtain access to the admirable quality of Yorktowne-made cabinetry with its practical and innovative
design details. At the same time, Yorktowne Cabinetry
will also gain additional flexibility to better compete in today’s ever
changing dynamic marketplace.
Elkay Cabinetry Group, the
forth largest in the industry, has seen dramatic growth over the last few
years, primarily in the high-end remodeling and custom-home building sector.
The tremendous growth has been fueled by record-low interest rates, soaring
investments in value enhancing home improvement activities, greater than ever
rise in homeownership, an increasingly improving economy, and the consequently
strong job market.
Yorktowne Cabinetry has recently
begun the development of the new site and considers transferring some
production equipment from Mifflinburg, PA to Danville, VA before
the end of this year. In parallel, the 97-year old company will
continue operating the dimension mill in Mifflinburg, PA along
with the original assembly plant in Red Lion, PA.
In an effort to better service it’s
current customer base and to reach out to additional business, the Elkay
Cabinetry Group feels confident in making this investment for the improvement
of its operations and customer relations.
