OAK BROOK, Ill. – April 2015 – Elkay has expanded the Crosstown™ sink line to add universal mount options to their existing line of undermount sinks. Universal mounts have Elkay’s Slim Rim™ feature, which allows the universal mount sink to be installed as an undermount or top mount. The Slim Rim design, when mounted on top of the countertop, lies flat with a very low profile which allows water and crumbs to be easily swept into the sink.
“With even more options, Crosstown sinks are being used in both modern and transitional style kitchens," says Mark Hird, Senior Product Manager at Elkay. “These sinks are among some of our most versatile sinks available on the market. They are modern, affordable and made from high-quality materials."
Crosstown sinks are hand-fabricated from 18-gauge stainless steel, making these sinks more durable and less prone to denting and vibrating. They are also fitted with the Elkay Sound Guard ™ system of sound-deadening materials. While some sinks have a zero degree corner radius or 90 degree angles, Crosstown sinks have a rounded 15-degree corner radius to allow for easy cleaning, yet still maintain that popular commercial look which is further reinforced with the creased accent lines on the sink bottom to help give it the professional look you would expect to find in a chef’s kitchen.
Crosstown drains are strategically placed near the back of the sink to allow for more functional working space within the sink and more storage space in the cabinet beneath the sink, by allowing the sink plumbing to be located closer to the back of the cabinet.
Crosstown sinks are also now available with a stainless steel apron front -- more popularly referred to as a farmhouse sink. “An increasing number of people are interested in incorporating the rustic look of farmhouse sinks into their kitchens. The Crosstown line allows the apronfront options to be retrofitted onto existing cabinets, which provides a less expensive approach to updating the look of a kitchen," says Mark. “It is the easy ‘kitchen refresh’ that many people are looking for these days."
