In the Fall of 2008, Elkay diversified its company further with the creation of a Decorative Surfaces Division. The Division started with the acquisition of Badolato Granite in White Marsh, Maryland, a family owned and run countertop fabrication and installation business. The Badolato family has been serving the quartz and natural stone industry on the East Coast for three generations.
Shortly after that, the Decorative Surfaces Division acquired Chesapeake Stoneworks, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. Chesapeake was a family owned and run stone countertop fabrication and installation business. The Starke family has been in the construction business in Virginia for over three generations as carpenters, builders, and countertop fabricators.
The opportunity to sell stone and quartz countertops along with Elkay cabinetry and plumbing products will be an exciting part of our future, extending the valued role Elkay plays in beautifying the home and enhancing kitchen functionality.
